In a similar vein, I'm appalled that the NSW government has put its air ambulance service out for tender and a Singaporean company (Pelair) looks like displacing the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Apparently in Victoria, the RFDS has already lost the air ambulance contract. Some loyalty to a great organsiation which has looked after country Australians for many decades wouldn't go amiss.

With the extreme rates increases of around 25% in Townsville plus all the other two digit state tax increases Queensland has now become the most expensive state to live in.

Some changes will be made at all next elections.

Angler
Think about it, if the State (any State) is in financial poo a new govt of any complexion wont change that because the State (any State) can't afford otherwise.

We as a nation are totally over taxed, and over governed, beyond our capacity to pay for it.

We currently have, (for a mere 20-21 million people) 5 levels of politicians. Germany & England have populations 8-9 times the size as ours with less politicians and public servants, and they struggle to maintain them all.

We have regional councils/corporations, upper & lower parliament in each state/territory and the same again at federal level.

So many things are duplicated, and we have Local, State & Federal bodies competing with each other on various levels and negating the work of the other, that all adds to the cost, as well as public servants all trying to justify their position by dreaming up new ways of doing things and in so doing taxing us. What chance do we as tax payers have against that???

All parties are as bad as each other and nothing will change while this is so.

I have no clues as to what the answers are, but I do know it needs fixing, and a new Govt will not do that, nor will the old one.

JMHO, Colin.

Viva the revolution comrade, LOL.

Hey Colin, I knew a bloke years ago who's favourite saying was "when the army takes over", I think his politics were slightly to the right of Genghis Khan.
Cheers
