At the end of a most successful & enjoyable crossing of the
Simpson Desert(my first) after "conquering" Big Red we stopped at
Little Red to re inflate the tyres. $200 compressors are pretty slow! A couple vehicles came roaring in from
Birdsville after dropping a trailer began to have a great time, driving up & down
Little Red. Yeah it looked pretty good fun.
Later in the
Birdsville pub the same Guys were mouthing off how they had "Blitzed" Big Red. The question is should we have enlightened them & stuffed their day or not.
Mike.

Nah, let them bask in their delusions. They probably wouldn't have believed you anyway!

Scenario; talking amoung yourselves in a slightly raised voice:
"Didn't we see those guys out at
Little Red dropping their trailers???? I wonder when they found the time to go out to Big Red????"

That is an interesting question, we had the same dilemma the day I took this shot, a convoy headed off west, exclaiming over the 2 way how easy the rest of the Simpson would be after Big Red was so easy for their vehicles. (They drove up
little red) We didnt have the heart to tell them.... But Hey! we were happy the pic says it all......

Security is mostly a superstition. It doesnt exist in nature. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.

Hi Michael
It is all part of the same dune, "Nappanerica", just an easier run. There is only one "Big Red" and if the guys did there homework before they tacked it, they would have known that it is not the crossing that they were trying for. All I can say is there bad luck for not doing their homework before heading out that way, especially when the
sign from
Birdsville clearly states "Little Red"
Cheers
Stephen
