TTMaps which is a freeware French program after a suggestion from a recent post on Exploroz (thanks to the person who posted the link!).
Copy two folders to the Tomtom along with the Raster Mosaic 250k.ecw map. (My Tomtom had 900Mb spare).
Reboot the Tomtom and it all works! After starting Tomtom, scroll to TTMaps, and it's just like moving maps on Oziexplorer. Get an arrow in the middle of the screen that tells you where you're heading and records track files and POI.
I know Garmin Oztopo and Hema Navigator etc etc are all out there, but this cost me nothing. Just use the freeware software and the maps I already own.
It only works with .ecw maps that have been geo-referenced. It does give you info on how to convert other maps. My only limit at present is the 1gig of Memory in our Tomtom XL.
I still run an old Tosh laptop with ozi via an in-dash screen - but this is a nice backup at present.

Hi Phil
Thanks for the info (I missed the other recent post on the subject. I will search for it)
I have an original TT One, the type that runs off a SD card, not sure what version (the link you gave says you must have Version 6 or higher of the TomTom NavCore) so have to look for that. Maybe able to update via TT if its not right?
(Being a novice on this stuff) I presume that by using a SD card I have an advantage over your situation with the possibility to increase the memory to suit and also make up back up copies?
In my situation do you think the new downloaded TT Maps would only effect the SD card being used and not the actual unit? In other words if I removed that SD card and used my current one could I go back to running and using my current set up? Reason I ask is I previously added extra novelty voices but when I used them I had problems with the TT freezing at the TT logo. Not sure if it was related to that or battery issues from lack of use despite charging first. It also occurred when they gave me a CD with an update to the latest maps. Since I now only use the normal voice (sorry son - he loves all the different voices) it no longer freezes. So not sure what actually causes freezing of my TT in my case. The voices are still on the card I am using, just not selected.
I have made back up copies of my SD card so presume I could just use one of those to download this and if any worries remove it and go back to my current one??
Thanks Mick
