Hi, I have an offroad van and am looking to put a 100-150Ah battery of some sort into a 12volt system with solar panel.

Can anyone recommend what type or brand of battery would be best as far as tolerating vibration of off-road and economical pricing?

Thanks

Look at only AGM Deep Cycle batteries
Brand depends on how deep your pockets are

I own a Kedron offroad van and have just recently gone through the process of replacing the 4 batteries inside the front boot area.

The batteries I chose are Full River 120 Ah sealed batteries. These have a very good reputation a have given other Kedron owners I know longevity when treated the correct way.

But yes, it will all depend on how deep your pockets are.

Cheers

A lot of people, including me,have had a good run from the Delcor deep cycle battery.
A bit over $200 for a 100A

Ive have mine mounted on a landcruiser tray top and I have been over some really rough ground with it.
I have the battery mounted on some strips of rubber to cushion it.

I also have a Fullriver battery rated at 140ah.

First one went back under warranty after 9 months and this new one seems to be a cracker.

They are a good price and everyones raves about them.

cheers Drew

Drew
yes, as your raving about yours being replaced after 9 months :-)

My advice is, check the weight of the various batteries your interested in, because the better quality AGM DC's are heavier than the lesser batteries of same capacity.

Good point Mainey.

I bought it because everyone said how good they are and could not justifie spending double on something that was not any better.

Drew,
These AGM's I 'use' are a similar price (not double) but yes, slightly more expencive :-)
I think it's OK to pay slightly more for an AGM with a warranty that's 3 times longer than most brands.

I had to add white rope 'handle' - original was lower than top of battery box.

Warranty : 3 years
Certifications : UL, CE, ISO9001
Dimensions : 330x171x214 mm

Thanks, bought a First Start AGM 120Ah, fairly heavy as you say, when compared to overall weight of van
