we just returned having travelled the Bloomfield north towing a
camping trailer, it's a wonderful drive there are some very steep sections in which you are in low range but overall a very easy and enjoyable drive with some magnificent rainforest .

It's a good drive, but it can get pretty slippery with not much rain.

We were there in 2008 a great trip. Went up to
Cape Tribulation and returned the same track to
Cooktown, stopping at the Lions Den Hotel for refreshments.
The only problem were those few who thought it was a speed way. Passing other vehicles near the crest of a steep
hill and going into a totally blind corner at the top, across the centre of the road. Also those who approach those corners coming the other way taking up two thirds or more of the track. Saw one near miss luckily the vehicle had slowed down and was right over on the left of the track. Makes you wonder how some of them survive!
