We are looking at driving from
Cooktown to
Cape Tribulation for a day trip via the
Bloomfield Track. Probably be in
Cooktown in a weeks time or so from now and we are planning on staying at the
camping area at the Lions Den Hotel for about 3 nights or so....
If anyone has recently driven the
Bloomfield Track we would really appreciate some current feedback on its conditions and also if our 99 Rodeo would be suitable (it is 4wd diesel) to drive it???? We arent experienced 4wders at all....
We plan to drive down early in the morning and then spend the day exploring
Cape Tribulation and then will head back up the track to return to
Cooktown all in the one day???? Does this sound feasable???
If anyone has any other points of interest here as
well we would appreciate your comments also.
Thanks in Advance

You will have no problem with the Bloomfield road unless it rains and will not need four wheel drive even on the steep sections.
You are limiting yourself with a day trip to Cape Trib as it deserves at least a couple of days (there is a really good
camping area at the Cape) but you can do it in one day. Road is gravel with some bitumen on the steeper sections but it is easily negotiated in you rodeo
Cheers

There has been very little rain up this way for a while - a few showers over the last week. There will be no problems with the road and you do not need any 4 x 4 skills to drive it. Cheers Tony

Hi Tony and all others that have replied too,
Thanks for your info - it is always good to hear from someone who lives near the area and knows what the actual weather has been like.
Would you be able to possibly give us an indication of the actual length of the track and/or how long it will take us to drive it in current conditions from
Cooktown to Cape Trib????
Thanks in advance

Allow 3 hours with a stop at the Lions Den Hotel.
