Anybody have a 12V wiring diagram for this frig?

I am upgrading the plug and just cut the end off before looking at the polarity. :-(

Now I'm in a 50/50 pickle.

TIA

Mal,

I'm assuming you've cut off the cig/hella socket. Undo this and look at the wires, from memory one is marked with a white stripe and one is plain black. Whichever one goes to the "pin" end of the plug is the positive.

Also from memory I think the fridge has polarity protection so if you wire it wrong it won't do any harm, just won't run. BUT, I'm not 100% on this.

Cheers,

Jim.

Mal - As Jim says - Undo the plug you cut off and see which wire went to the pin - that is the positive. Cheers Tony

Thanks Jim & Tony

Unfortunately the twin wire is just black, no stripes. So I have to guess which black lines up with the other black. LOL

I don't want to take the chance of just plugging it back in.

There should be a ridge or rough edge on the side of one of the wires so you can tell which is which. The rough edge is usually positive (pin end of socket).

Good Luck!

What if it is unusually negative?

Malcolm,

if you cant figure it out or are nervous about it, be safe and buy a new power lead.

Might cost $20 but better than blowing something up.

Malcom,

If you look carefully at the cable you will see that one side of the "figure 8" profile has several raised ridges running along the plastic sheath. That is the negative conductor.

I have double-checked, the conductor with the raised ridges on the insulating sheath is definitely negative.

If you can use a multimeter on ohms or continuity range then you can check from the plug pins to the cut end of cable.
Looking at the photo below, the left pin is negative.

Thanks guys ....

Now if I had been really observant I would have see that ridge = negative -ve
The other wire has some manuafacturer's writing embossed on it = positive +ve

LOL I actually had the wires connected correctly but did not want to take the chance of blowing up the frig.

Thanks for all the help - problem solved - beers cooling down. I'll have one or two for each of you ;-)
