Wondering if anyone is using one of these
http://www.prestigecom.net.au/index....oducts_id=1542 & what the think of it
I was looking at a GME TX4400
http://www.prestigecom.net.au/index....&products_id=4 but the Uniden is the other option as i want a 1 Din unit to dash mount
Also looking at a RFI CD5000 antenna
http://www.prestigecom.net.au/index....roducts_id=690 as
well
From what i have read on this & other forums most people seem to indicate that the GME Product (and Icom but they dont do a 1 Din & i dont want to use a facia to adapt it) is better than the older Unidens but there is not a much said about this recently released model
Any thoughts would be appreciated
Regards Don

Your on the right track above, I'd stay clear of the Uniden imo,..Although my first choice would be the Icom, has speaker in mike head and Japanese made..Not sure on Din but am sure any good auto elect would know how to do it.
The CD9000 is a better unit with 6.5db (happy medium for flat and hilly areas)..
Another option is the Icom 41S Handheld used with the above aerial, its what i use (i own x2 of them) and you get the same range, plus the portability, another thing that cannot be ripped from your car, connect and disconnect is eeazy peezy..
Cheers

Hi Donk, I have the Uniden 500sx with a Mobile 1 6.5db antenna, works fine for me, but I am a novice in this area.
Many on here prefer not to go with Uniden, partly due to the fact that the other main option is Australian made. Like I said, I am a novice with radio equipment, and didn't even think there was an Aus made radio, or I would have considered my purchase differently. I went purely on a brand I had heard of, and price.
I must admit, the prices quoted on that company's website are a lot cheaper than I paid six months ago.
Easy 1din fitting, no probs with radio or fitting, guess its up to you.
Cheers, Dave
