Hi,
I am restoring an old 52 model dodge 4X4 power wagon and am looking for a steering box c/w steering colum and steering wheel.
problem is these are LHD so not readily available at local wreckers
if anyone knows of any old dodge trucks (or other LHD pre mid 60's vehicles) please let my know as I may be able to find something to fit.
The one I have is ex
snowy mountains hydro electricity authority and i know they did have quite a few in the early days of the snowy scheme.
cheers
Howard

Try US ebay you'd be surprised how cheap it can be to get stuff mailed over, one of my mates has bought heaps of engine parts from the US and I'm surprised how easy it is, Rhys.

Yep - I bought stuff in from USA for the F truck it is cheap - but sea freight takes over 3 months & air freight is expensive for steel parts that are large and heavy.
An easier solution, might be to stick with the steering box you have and keep it mounted LHD - but run a chain and two motorbike sprockets, to connect a RHD mounted steering wheel to the steering box on the LHS!
A lot of the early F truck conversions were apparently done this way - the chain and sprockets up behind the dash. This way you don't have to alter all the steering rods &
suspension geometry.
Cheers.
