Hi All,
Bit of a different call for help. Would anyone know where I could hire a metal detector for a few hours?
I live at Patterson Lakes (SE Melb suburb) and have "misplased" my 2 week old glasses (which replaced the last set I lost!) somewhere in my garden. I have spent the afternoon going through leaf litter, pea gravel, ashes etc etc to no avail. I'll give the Miners Den in Mitcham a call in the morning, but hopefully someone may be able to point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance
Cheers

Ales, don't expect miracles of a metal detector. Most glasses these days don't have too much metal in them for them to respond to.
I think if you have sifted through leaf litter & ash & the like then I would be looking in another shirt pocket, the glove box of the car, under the lounge cushion etc.
From my experience I find we don't tend to bury our glasses, rather, we misplace them.
Good luck.

Love this old gag...."Last week I changed my mind three times..... I should have kept the one I had on Tuesday - It was better at remembering things than the one I've kept".
As you say...Technicaly there not lost...just misplaced in my yard "somewhere" so there's always hope :-)

Good luck with the glasses Alex,I fell "a" over "t" a week ago and landed on
mine snapping them in two, so I sympathise with ya mate.
What I want to know, is, how the hell do ya get up in the middle of the night for a pee, outta that rig, without breaking ya neck LOL LOL, or is that why you're desperate to find the specs. LOL LOL.
My extension ladder to get on the roof isn't that big. :-))
Any way, good luck mate, I hope they turn up real soon.
Fred.

G'day Fred,
I feel for you breaking your glasses and hope that was all you broke!
Midnight pee breaks..not a problem - that's our "Roof Top Hilton" - it has an "" - It all works a treat..... Just as long as I don't accidentally mix up the cordial bottles :-) LOL.
Cheers

Alex, to use a metal detector successfully you have to have a bit of experience and know what you are looking for.
Metal detectors aren't something you can turn on and find what you are looking for straight away.
It depends what the glasses are made from and what discrimination settings you have to use to filter out the rest of the junk.
Without using discrimination it would be like finding a needle in a
hay stack blind folded.

G'Day Drew,
Yeah, sounded like a good idea at the time, but obviously not as easy as I thought.
Made a couple of calls this morning and the last call sorted it all out........ Specsavers - ordered a new pair! :-)
Thanks for your comments
Have a great one
Cheers
Alex
