Hi all, I briefly saw in one of the new fourby mags the other day a new type of winch on the market. From what i could gather it uses a small hydraulic motor on the winch body, powered by a remote 12v power pack which i assume is similar to the units used in tailgate loaders etc. This seems a great idea - the power draw is significantly lower than an electric winch, plasma rope could probably be used without excessive heat in the drum, it allows some of the weight to be distributed behind the front axle, and as long as there is sufficient fluid capacity, the duty cycle could be quite long. It would also not interfere with power steering etc, and would run without the engine going if needed. The competition guys could also run higher capacity pumps to get faster operation . Has anyone seen one of these units in the flesh or in operation and any idea on how much coin is needed??? Thanks all Brad..

I too saw these somewhere, looks like a great idea. I've got an OX hydraulic and love the way that it can go for hours if needed. This new sort seems to be the best of both worlds.

Geez , at the prices mentioned, it would be cheaper to go and buy an ox unit new, and source a second hand hydraulic power pack from a light truck wrecker. brad.

G'day, have the price list in front of me, hope your sitting down! 6000lb model $6928.00 plus GST, 12000lb model $6853 plus GST, the 12000lb model comes standard with a belt drive system, whatever that is, can not figure out how it is cheaper that 6000lb. model? 6000lb model comes standard with electric/hydraulic package. Very pricey. Hope this helps.

They are firmly pulling themselves if they think anyone will pay $8000 for a 6000lb winch!

yeah, they sure are pulling themselves, as i replied to chopper, you could buy a new ox 9000lb unit and source a second hand power pack unit for a lot less than that...It is a great idea but me thinks not at that price...brad

You could buy 3 x High Mount Warns for that and have one front and rear and a spare for sidemount!!!

That must be a mistake!
