The road from BOURKE to Cobar is sealed. If you check any recently produced, good quality road altlas it will clearly display the road as a Major Sealed Road.

Not sure why you wouldn't trust the map and need confirmation from a forum.

First time I travelled that route it was indead a major sealed road, so the atlas was right.

Wizard,

I couldn't count the number of times a supposedly "good" atlas was wrong, both in distances and type of road. Google Maps seem to be wrong more often than they are right! I always like to check when travelling an outback area I haven't been down before. I have 3 different maps of the Cooloola Coast (ie Double Island point) and all show different tracks, and the same tracks in different locations. There is no substitute for first hand knowledge!

cheers

Ben

Hi Colin,

Not being cynical (or having a go), just explaining why someone would want first hand info over a map book.

Cheers

I wanted to check for sure because it is to late when you are half way down a road and you have to turn around especially with a van of over 9 mtrs long .The last time I traveled down that road was over 25yrs ago and it was pretty rough that was when I was shearing down that way. Mind you I was only driving an old ford at the time.
