Hi Travellers, I believe there is an Echo Tourist
Park on the Yardie Rd. Has anyone stayed there and do they take caravans? Also is there another option other than
camp sites?

There is a caravan pk. on the left just before the N.P begins. Don't think it is echo tho.
Dec runs campsites in the N.P. and you have to get there early to get a site. There are some for C/vans others for tents and others for those with generators.
That was 2 years ago.

The ECO accommodation your looking for is the Sal Salis
Ningaloo Reef - on the road to Yardie - in the National
Park. Its Tent Style on
the beach. The only caravan I've seen there is the caretaker/hosts van.
I think the tents are just short of $700 per night. Caravans are catered for elsewhere in the National
Park.
Have fun.

Hi Tom,
Yardie
Creek Homestead caravan
Park is close to the
Park entrance but wasnt recommended to us by another couple who had stayed there. I didn't ask why so no idea what it is like - we were already staying in a
park in
Exmouth. I Dont think it is Eco. Theres also Lighthouse van
park on that side of the Cape which looked OK as we drove past, right on the road.
If you are thinking of staying in the National
Park you will have to queue up at the
gate very early - we were told 4 or 5AM - otherwise you will miss out. You can take a drive around all the
camping areas and select suitable sites for your needs on the day before (ie generator, caravan etc) and then if any are vacant on the morning you queue, you can choose one and have 2hrs to get there and pay the campground host.
We decided it was too much trouble and hope that next time we tour the West of Oz there is some kind of booking system in place. Drove in from
Exmouth a couple of times and did the walks but didnt see any coral, whale sharks or
Ningaloo reef and are now back in NSW!!
Maybe next time.
Cheers
Heather G

We saw that 'eco tent complex' in the sandhills by
the beach when we down snorkelling at the South Mandu beach - one of our non swimmers used their sunlounge by the
water's edge - the place was abandoned for that day - access was narrow and appeared to be limited to quad bikes or similar - my guess is it would be catered as per bookings and cost mega $$ per night - staying in the Yardie
Homestead campground was our pick - excellent - easy drive into the NP each day.
