Finally the months of planning and day dreaming about our 2009 trip are over and we leave tomorrow.

We're heading across the Gunbarrel and then up the Canning, a few days around Marble Bar then up to Broome, the Gibb River Road back around to Halls Creek, down the Tanami and back onto the Canning then the Gary Junction Road to Alice Springs and home.

We're meeting up with Bucky (The Mexican) and Lyn at Yulara and then its off on the big adventure.

We'll be glad to leave the cold winter behind us for a while.

Viv

Have a great trip Viv,

Perhaps you could dop me a favour on your way back down the Gary Junction.

I left my favorite jaffle iron at our campsite beside the Gary Junction on the first night out of our trip. The campsite co-ordinates are;

23°14'35.40"S 130° 7'55.92"E

We just pulled off the road to the south (your right hand side coming down)about 100 metres in. We were approximately 70 kilometres east of Kintore. There will be a pile of wood there near the remains of our fire and the jaffle iron was left on the pile.

It's been through a lot of years of travel with me that iron and I was kicking myself for losing it.

Enjoy your trip and if you get the opportunity to conduct the rescue mission on your way back, I'd be forever grateful.

Safe travels. Mick

Mick !!!! Go back and get the bloody thing yaself in that new jalopy of yours.... would be a good shake down run for it.... hehehehe

Viv and Ray...... have a damned great trip and if you find yourselves near us (Kadina, SA), you'll be more than welcome. If that Bucky bloke is with you, he can camp down by the beach, but Lyn is always welcome.... hahahaha ;-)))

Cheers and safe travels....

Have a wonderful trip Viv. We are enjoying the north of the NT, but miss the colour and solitude of the desert.

Drive safe
