This is a a little OT and I beg the tolerance of the Moderators, but will accept if they delete it.

Schu has been gone for about two years and expects to be able to jump back into an entirely different F1 car to the last one he drove and have a hope?

Surely his fitness has waned and he's pushing 40.

On the positive side he's got three weeks before the Euro GP to get in shape.

I'll be staying up to watch this one; how intriguing, Webber second on the Championship standing and Schu making a comeback?

Dull old F1 hasn't been this interesting for years.

Jim.

Hi Jim

Yes great fan of Michael's it is only till Felipe is back

Good to see Mark doing well. I started watching F1 in 1980 when I had a broken knee cap,, (all those Brut adds) Alan Jones won hardly ever mist a race since.

Cheers

Richard

How's it going Jim,

Well I reckon the Schu has something special, the midas touch perhaps. Wouldn't surprise me if he did something special before the end of the year. And I still can't belive Lance Armstrong came third in the TDF this year. So yep, I wouldnt be surprised at all if Schu did something. Cheers

Jim,
I suspect one of the attaractions of Schumacher to Ferrari right now is to shove a bloody big rocket right under a very de-motivated, very highly paid Finn.

I do agree with you though, I am looking forward to seeing how he goes.

I also suspect Ferrari is following that old lawyers adage, never ask a question you don't already know the answer. They've done their homework and he must be still up there!

Schumacher is part owner of the team and does most of the test driving, why wouldn't he step up to the job.

Shows how out of touch I am, I wasn't aware of that.

Given that he has been driving the cars on a regular basis this should be very interesting.

Jim.

Umm, no he's not a part owner of the Ferrari F1 Team.

He's an employee of Ferrari, he's employed as a roving Ferrari ambassador and technical consultant to the F1 team. The technical consultancy may involve an occassional stint behind the wheel.

Ferrari wholly own the Scuderia Ferrari Racing Team and Fiat are the major shareholder in Ferrari.

The official FIA listed test and reserve drivers for Ferrari are Marc Gene and Luca Badoer. (Both of these drivers must and do currently hold FIA F1 Super Licences)

Michael Schumacher does not currently hold an FIA F1 Super Licence allowing him to drive F1 cars at official FIA practice sessions or races, he allowed it to expire. See: Schumacher Super Licence

Geoff,

If Schu hasn't got a licence, how can he drive in F1? Can they be re-issued at short notice?

Jim.

Hi Jim, didn't lance armstrong register too late to race in the "tour downunder"? I am sure Michael will have one in time, at least I hope he does!

Hi Jim,
That link I posted is to an article where the German affiliate of the FIA has sent in Michael's aplication for a new Super Licence.

Also in the article there is a comment by an FIA representative stating something like "he doesn't automatically qualify for the licence but there really shouldn't be a problem"

So it looks to me like the FIA are viewing it as nothing more than a rubber stamp exercise.

After all, why wouldn't they?

It's a Max Mosley - Bernie Ecclostone wet dream!

What about Vodaphone
changing from F0RD to HOLDEN ?

Mr. Lounds did not appear at the announcement cause he was 'unhappy'
will be watching Sandown this weekend to see how it's taken by spectators

Lounds didn't appear because he has a contract to ford until next year.

But hey don't let the facts get in the way of a good story.

Quote from 888 racing website

"We are delighted to join the Holden family," TeamVodafone Managing Director, Roland Dane said.

"It is an emotive topic for Triple Eight and we feel that as we have ‘grown' with GM that we should continue to ‘live' together with them, here with Holden."
#
Last week Dane confirmed that the team had re-signed with major naming rights sponsor Vodafone for another three years, and that LOWNDES and WHINCUP would also be with the team through to the end of the 2012 season.

Reigning V8 Supercar Champion Jamie Whincup said he was excited by the prospect of returning to Holden.
"Personally, I am very excited, I started my V8 Supercar career in Holden teams and didn't quite get the results I wanted so now I have the chance to rectify that," Whincup said.
"TeamVodafone is a cohesive and dedicated team and I am very confident that we can continue to record similar results when we climb aboard our new Commodores to start the 2010 season.
"I look forward to working with Holden and hope that we can shoot for further championship success together."

Mr. Lowndes was not at the meeting - I still believe he's unhappy

Team Vodaphone Red Letter Day

Take note of the sentence " Lowndes, who left the Holden stable to drive for Ford-backed 00 Motorsport in 2001 and still has a personal contract with Ford until the end of this year, did not attend today’s announcement.

It is simple really.

Jamie Wincup has a contract with Team Vodafone and 888 racing not Ford.

Craig Lowndes has a contract with Team vodafone and 888 racing, he also has a personal contract with Ford.

Ford do not sponsor Team Vodafone or 888 racing.

Well no wonder they are going to run HOLDENS after watching the V8 supercar race today

Craig Lowndes was disappointing to watch in his F0RD

Holden won convincingly :) :) :) :)

Hiya Jim

These guys are freaks and are born with there talent, most hav to work there ass's off for it and the select few dont hav too..

Mick Doohan for an example after nearly 2 years retired hopped on a GP Bike and did a few hot laps of the Island for the crowd. One lap would hav put him on the front row at number1..

Thats talent...

Mick Doohan surely is talented.

About 10 years after Wayne Gardner retired I had the pleasure of sharing the Eastern Creek circuit with him on a ride day.

He was streets ahead of anyone and everyone that day even riding a production Honda 1000cc V-Twin. He was up against Yamaha R1's, Suzuki GSX1000's and Honda Fireblades!

Those sort of blokes are just in another world!

Yea- and wouldn't it be good if the local television put it on at a reasonable time. Instead of running it after all the other 'brain dead' crap that they run.
I do realise there is a time difference, but not to the extent that Ch. 10 delay the telecasters slot it in !!!
