gday all
I had the oppurtunity to visit the Wyaralong Dam near
Boonah the other day as i was delivering guard rail to the dam for the road works going on there.
There was plenty of earthworks going on, much of it on the roads as i said but plenty was happening down near the dam wall ( much of it was off limits as they were blasting at the time). The road from
Boonah to the dam site will be under
water when it fills, but a new road is being constructed around where the
water level will be.
The guy who was unloading me told me that the wall should be completed around September next year. It will be a worth a when they finish.

G’day Mark,
I’m back!!! The Simpson trip was great. Eyre
creek was a surprise… didn’t realize it was so big in
places.
Looked up the link you posted and it talk only about
water supply. Did the bloke you spoke with talk about any recreational facilities being provided. It’s beautiful country out there. It’d be good if another stocked dam was close by.
Myles.

Myles
I did notice on the way to there that there was another dam near
Rathdowney.From
Rathdowney you head towards
Boonah to a little place called Maroon (i'm sure thats what the
sign said). It wasn't that far up the road from there.Maroon Dam the
sign said. Not sure if it has a fish stock in it but someone will know i'm sure.
The guy i spoke to at the Wyraralong Dam didn't say weather or not it had these facilities but if i go out that way again i will definitely be asking for you, cheers.

Mark,
Yep it’s Maroon Dam, other wise known as Lake Maroon... I'm quite familiar with the area, though didnt know about Wyraralong Dam. There are a couple of
camping opportunities at Maroon and fishing is permitted. Hopefully the same will go for the new dam.
Myles.

Mark and Myles, report from the fishing club in the
Rathdowney Pub last night is that not many fish in Lake Maroon at the moment - sadly. Very sad really as it has been ages since the dam had any
water in it due to the drought. The fish will be back (hopefully by the time I get my boat with electric motor!).
