Its a samsung A411.
This morning I am in downtown
Blackwater having a coffee at the shopping centre.
I hear the phone give a tone like I have just received a message, I casually pull the phone from my pocket and open it up,,,,,nup nothing, I thought it must have bee someone else.
Got back to the house about 20 minutes ago and it does the same thing,,,open it up,, no message.
So,,,Being a clever little fella I turned it off,,,,a few minutes later it makes noise like I have a message,, hang on i said I turned you off,,,,,Then I was real clever and took the battery out,,,its still trying to talk to me !
Can anyone suggest a good shrink or a solution to my problem.
One gets to rely on ones phone a lot when travelling.

my LG will do that if the messages are full (except a slightly different sound) and when the battery is down
try deleting you sms es both in and sent boxes and drafts and all the other damn stuff they have

I did all that,, but still talking to me.
I have noticed a funny squiggle just below the 'time' that I have never seen before.
Might have a look at the Samsung site.

That icon indicates that the phone will "ring" (rather than vibrate or mute). However ... the phone will still NOT ring if the volume is set to 0.
In other words: pretty colorful icon ... but pretty useless. If you change your profile to "silent" for example the icon changes.

The battery appears fine.
However, I made a call to SWMBO and now the phone seems to be fine.

It seems too obvious but I have to ask - is it the only phone around? I've often thought I had a message and it ended up being the person nearby with the same brand of phone and the same 'alert tone'.

Hi Boo Boo
It wouldn’t be one of those stupid birds that mimic sounds, i have one that mimics my car alarm his got it down to a fine art.
Two beeps to lock.
One beep to unlock.
Three beeps to tell me that i haven’t locked it.
He seems to like the three beeps especially after i have locked it.
He’s always around and in the tree next to my 4by.
I think he is trying to send me to the Looney bin. (time to get a cat i think).

I just tried to ring a friend's mobile and got a (satellite I suspect) cooking show. Pity I couldn't see the end product.

My kettle is haunted ! When it heats up I can see an angry ghost coming out of the spout and it makes an angry whistling howling sound !
Spooky !

whirlpool.com.au is a good place for queries about the paranormal.
There's a long thread there about the A411 .... though I don't recall haunted beeping being covered.

It was definitely my phone.
No birds dogs or cats mimicing.
As I said earlier it has fixed itself now.
I do like the suggestion about leaving phone and swambo at home though! LOL
