Hi all, I'm making a gas-strutted boatloader for our CT and I'm trying to find what spec / size / model gas strut is best. The boatloader will carry our 50kg dinghy and the rack itself will weigh around 20kg hence we require a gas strut to support 70+kg. Any suggestions or does anyone have a gas-strutted boatloader in their carport / garage who can let me know the gas strut length [closed], diameter, max capacity kg, make/model? cheers,

Hi ya,
We have a boat loader on a Kanga camper trailer. The loader is approx 40kg, with a max carrying load of 80kg. The loader has 2 gas struts to assist they are 52cm in full length, 28cm for the main body of the unit & are rated at 600N each.

Thanks all. A good starting point, which should help narrow it down. cheers, greenextreme

I just built one 6w ago and had the strut charged to 100kG of force. I only have a canoe on
mine (32kG) so a timmy may need more force.
