Just a heads up to check your text messages on any Telstra connected mobile phones.
Margo and I have both had messages saying "You have reached the end of the free period of your mobile internet trial IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO CONTINUE THIS SERVICE CALL 125111"
So unless you call them they will start charging you for a service you have not asked for or signed up for !!!!
I had specifically asked that my mobile phone internet service be disconnected and disabled when I bought the phone and they had re connected it without asking me and were going to charge me for the service unless I called them.
I called them on the number they asked me to and after working my way through the voice prompts I got on to a customer service person who had no idea what I was talking I got onto his supervisor and voiced my disapproval in fairly strong terms.
After I arrived home Margo checked her phone and had the same message after 20 minutes of attempting to get a sensible reply we asked the automated service for COMPLAINTS and finally talked to a human being who appeared to take some notice.
So just a heads up if you are like us and don't use your text message function on your phone just check it and if you get the message phone the number and ask for COMPLAINTS immediately !

Funny because telstra knew about it when I spoke to the team manager.
The agreed to cancel the service and refund the $10 service charge they had placed for connecting me.
The number given to call 125111 takes you directly to telstra.
Do you have a telstra phone or are you just making a guess about saying this is false ?

I had the same problem - didn't get a message tho. Rang Telstra and ended up in the Philipines. They are going to credit the charges.

yeah always get a ' foreign ' person when calling telstra. many times i have had to explain stuff down to the point and got very frustrated. its easier to go to a telstra dealer if you can.

All the Telstra mobiles in this house have internet access (as most mobiles bought off the shelf now have) but it doesn't cost any of us a cent as we don't use that functionality. Also, Telstra doesn't charge a fee for this access.
I've just been told by the bloke whose mobile is with Optus to say that that it also works that way with Optus - if you don't use it you don't pay and there is no fee for having the functionality.

I am wondering if it was a business deal ? Both the phones are linked to our business. I could not make out exactly what the deal was I just rang and got up them !

I have a $10.00 per month @150mb data pack on my telstra phone which allows you to use email and the web. But I asked for this to be enabled. Is this what you are talking about D200Dug?

I am not sure as I cannot find the message on my phone again.
I am a total luddite and hate features in things like phones, If I have a phone I want it to make phone calls not coffee ot be able to knit a scarf.
When Margo spoke to the Telstra people they said we would not be able to send photos or videos unless we had this feature.
Needless to say we have never used a phone to send anything except phone calls and then we only use a mobile phone as a last resort.
We both hate new most technology and try avoid it whenever possible. :-)
