Hi all,
Just a reminder about the eclipse in Queensland 2012.
It would be a great excuse for a visit. I've had this one diarised ever since the
Ceduna one in 2002. Perhaps a visit to the cape as
well.
It is on Wednesday November 14, 2012 about an hour after sunrise.

A Total Solar Eclipse is one of the most amazing things I have ever witnessed. Might see you there.

There's bloody big biting lizards up there Al!! At least you'll be able to wash that red dust out of your ute with all the
creek crossings. Does sound like a good reason to travel though.
Cheers Mick

Won't be missing this one either....... I have already worked out my spot to hang out.
4th December 2002 if I remember right.
I went specifically out to see the eclipse and as
Ceduna was on the the coast I figured there was more chance of overcast conditions. I opted to go to
Sturt National park and was fortuanate to meet the man himself, "Mr Eclipse" from NASA. He too knew of the downfalls of seeing an eclipse from the coast. We met him at
Cameron Corner. He told me that they were staying on a property somewhere a little south.
Anyway enough rambling.
This is what I saw

Maybe we can meet up somewhere around then

Pete,
I don't think I will be too far away from
Cairns for the eclipse as I am meeting some others with kids who are going to hire a
sedan from there after flying in.
In
Ceduna, although I had worked out my top viewing positions prior in
Perth, the last few hours we were frantically going from one spot to the next judging what might be the best position. After all of that we ended up watching it right on the wate about a kilometer from town.
I might follow the bongo drums this time :))
Cheers

You realize of course, that while you might get to see the exclipse - that before you have time to tell anyone about it - the world as we know it will end on Dec 32rd 2012 - the end of the Mayan Calendar!
Seems kind of an anti climax if you ask me.
Then again - my pet theory for why the Mayan calendar ends on Dec 23 2012- was that the Injun fella carving it ran outta room on
the rock to carve any more on that day! ;o)

A trip to The Cape in November, huh???
Yeah
well, maybe...... maybe not ;-))
FNQ is my ol' stampin' ground (haven't lived there for 36 years though), and all of SWMBO's family (parents & siblings) live on the (
Atherton) Tableland, and I have 1 bro still living up there, so we get up there fairly regularly..
I'll pencil the date into the diary, and it will be a bonus if we can manage to catch up with ya while there:)
Catch ya later.... Ed C

Hi Ed.
I must admit my knowledge of that area is very limited. I haven't been further north than
Townsville there. I'll guess I'll cross that bridge (of lack therof) when I get there :)
Judging things from
Ceduna, there is likely to be thousands and thousands of locals and foreigners alike converged in the area.
Cheers
Alan
