Was $799 but this week its $469,
Has no DC output ,do you really need a 12v dc out ? I thought its Not much use to you if your planning to put the genny 20mts away ? and their not regulated.
weighs 18kg
Says 64db on box but then says 68db on generator ? Hopefully I could cover it with something to make it quieter. Also we hope not to camp close to other campers.
Does`nt say at what distance.
I think I will bite the bullet and get one as I only need to charge batteries during the day or evening for a few hours. I only a genny for camping a few times a year.
Was thinking of a solar panel but I dont think I will get enough power from one As I am running a 29ltr engel an a power hungry 50st liemack.

Maybe the 68db gennie is only 64db if you leave the box on. LOL

Well. I was hoping on 1 x 100watt panel would do the job, Also storage was a problem for me.

Thanks Mandrake.

Previously I used 1 x 80 Watt Solarex panel with my Liemack 50 Ltr F/F for a number of years, charging 2 x 80 ah Delkor DC batteries, I would not recommend a system of this (small) Solar capacity, as it took some looking after, the batteries lasted ~6 years though.

I would think a quality panel ~120 Watts would suffice if you charge AGM batteries

I was packing up today ready to go North, charging some Energizer® Rechargeable batteries via the Inverter, I was interested in the loss associated with the Inverter, when I checked my Solar system output
it was putting out only 0.2 Amps
I was amazed - insert very very happy face here :)

I was parked in my carport
NO SUN could be shining on the Solar system at all

It was about 2 pm and ~18° so I got up and looked at the Solar panels to see how close the sunshine was to the Solar system, I could easily see the shadow on the vehicle roof, it was at least 10 cms from the edge of the Solar panel, so the Solar system was working only from reflected light.

Any light is good light Mainey - even reflected - in fact upon reflection isn't reflected light brighter than the source ?

Ponder that one you scientific types - LOL

Well as much as I would prefer to go solar,
From previous experiences trying to run these two fridges in hot temperatures for more than say 10hrs was practically impossible unless I would go for a good drive for that day. Thats using 1x100amp deep cycle AGM and 1x 650 cca marine wet cell.
I have each fridge set at 2 or 3 degrees.
Sometimes at night I would run the vehicle for 1/2 hour or so just to try and top them up a little.
But did`nt like doing it cause of the bore glazing possibility.
It seems that I have been outdone by these fridges and need a genny.

But I think I could go solar for the camper trailer as it only runs a pump ,lights and invertor for charging things..

You may have underestimated the power of light MrBrush - LOL .

I've been running my Waeco CF50 in the back of the Jeep for 6 days now -
Its running on an 85aH Battery with a 80w solar panel on the roof - Not connected to the Vehicle system at all - And the battery is still well into the high 12 volt area and the fridge is sitting on 1-2 degrees - Admittedly the temperature around here is low to mid teens and I have not opened and closed the fridge during that time but according to my calculations my battery should be as flat as a tack by now ... But its still purring away ..

Happy happy Mandrake !!

Yes, but you do have the advanatge of lower ambient temps and an economical fridge.

Living in SE qld with higher temperatures and using at a guess 5 to 7 amps/hr for the fridges I don`t think a solar panel would keep up for long.Unless I got 2x100watts as you suggested.

Although they have been getting very affordable in the past twelve months, so I think I will get one for the C/T soon.
