Bonz (Vic) - Thoughtfully
Well its getting ever closer and the National Gathering is about to go off with a bang and I am planning this year to do a GPS Challenge at
the Pyrenees get together.
The Prize is a LIFE
MEMBERSHIP to ExplorOz donated by David and Michelle.
What I am planning is to have ten GPS points as the starting point for each challenge. At this point will be a
sign with the next GPS point, and at the third point would be the final GPS point and a code that
Explorers would need to bring back to the
camp. Those codes will be checked and the person who has the winning code wins the Prize.
The aim is to teach people or to learn them how to set a GPS point in their GPS's and then to navigate to that point, not too sure how TomTom/Navman street GPS's will go with this but it will be a fun learning time anyway and a great prize.
What do people think about this? Is this something you think would be fun and worthwhile.
Feedback greatly appreciated here or to my Members Message if you prefer.

If the Winner is already a life member, then they will receive the Life Member prize and the prize will go to the second placed person.

I think thats a good idea generally Bonz.
I hate those things when they ask useless non-related questions.
You will have to ensure that the co-ordinates are in Lat Lon , decimal and minutes/seconds as
well as UTM as some of those Tom/Jill type ones only have one format.
It would be good for those who have navigators to post the waypoint formats supported by their device in advance.
I think you are right to limit it to 2 or 3 dependant waypoints on any challenge.

Most definitely, and I can tell you that you will be most welcome to show some of those Old School skills to all an asunder.
I would consider it a snub if you and little Wes didnt come along Muz.
