In late June I got a Navman S150 and was informed that you can unlock them so that you can load Oziexploror CE. I tried the suggested hacks in June but no go. I was out bush until last week & this is the first chance I have had to try & get it up & running.
I have loaded the required information from the Gpspassion forum but I can not get the Navman to recognise the info in the SD card.
Can anyone tell em where I have gone wrong ?Vince

From here: http://www2.pajeroclub.com.au/forum/showthread.php?p=35114

"Hacking the newer S Series:

These are the new thinner Navmans that use a microSD card. Eg - the S150. The hack is the same as described at the start of this thread except that you need to use a different name for the hack folder on the microSD card. Previously you would call the folder "S50" if it was an S50 model.

With this new series you need to first connect the unit to a computer and using Windows Explorer look in it's flash drive (should be the first of the two drives that will come up) for a file called "source.txt". Open it and it should look something like this:

Created: 2008-09-26 21:21:36:984375000
Software: MERMAID_405 6.00.0048
Map Data:NT_AU_0802_4014
Map Region:AU
Part Num: 565117210203R02

The "MERMAID_405" bit is what you name the hack folder that you put mortscript, auto.exe and auto.mscr into per the first post.

Let us know how you get on with this - it would be interesting to see what the other units are called."

Thanks for the reply Baza.
From the Source.txt it is "Mermaid_425" and I have used the instructions from your link. psproule gave me his link in June.
Still no go.

I may have to go out and kidnap an eleven year old to help.

Haven't got mine with me, but did you rename 2 of the 3 files in the Mermaid_425 director to be just auto.exe and auto.mscr instead of MioAutoRun?

Yes !!

I have just finished re formatting the SD card & down loading the Mio files again.
The Navman now has flat batteries, so waiting for a recharge before I put the card back in.
I will let you know know how it goes.

Navman now fully charged. Put the Sd card in and turned on, It's still acting like a Navman.
What am I doing wrong ?

Make sure you have the file extensions right. Many people forget that Windoze by default hides the file extensions (.exe and .scr int his case I think) and they end up naming files xxxxxx.exe.exe, or leave off the extension. I am on a mac at the moment, but from memory in Windows Explorer (not IE!) you select view, options and turn off "hide extensions of known file types" or something similar. I am fairly sure that note is somewhere in the full thread I started on Pajeroclub. I have seen 3 S150's hacked so far.

Thanks Pat.
I think I have bigger problems. The Navman now will NOT pick up satellites & comes up with a message saying that it can not find map files. This is with the SD card in & with it out.
I think I will need to find a computer savy type and give it to them.
Thanks for you efforts

I'm sick of using my (huge) laptop as an in-car navigator screen. I have the s80 model Navman and want unlock it to to upload OziExplorer CE and the Natmap Raster maps only, for "moving map" display during bush trips.
1) will the screen-size, resolution and zoom images be functionally useful? and
2) Will it still provide the normal Navman operations for around-town navigation or will that functionality be lost once unlocked?

Any comments would be helpful

Cheers; Dr Hook

Dr. Hook.
I have an S80 Navman & with my sons help have loaded oziexplorer.
The maps are excellent(still have to learn how to navigate oziexplorer).I used the Navman last month, travelling to Emerald.
For normal navman operations, simply remove the sd card.
Cheers.
