Ok , where do i start . When leaving the barge at the
intersection turn left towards point
lookout . About 500mts on the right is a
shop that sells bait , tackle ,
camping etc . Get your beach driving pass from here . It will cost $35 for a yearly pass unless they have gone up . On the way to point
lookout and
adder rock you will see a turn off to the left that says amity . Its only a 10 minute detour and this is where i usually
camp . Not far up the road from
adder rock towards point
lookout is the
beach access road (george nothling drive). You can access the main surf beach from here . Back the other direction towards dunwich on the right is the
beach access road to flinders beach . You can drive on this beach and it will take you to amity if you dont want to get there via the bitumen . Try fishing along flinders beach . At point
lookout there is a
cliff walk . If you want some fish and chips then the
shop at meegera place sells great food . Once on main eastern beach you can drive all the way to the pin (bottom of the island) for great fishing . Check out the
camping spots behind the dunes if you want to . Half way along main beach is a road which takes you back to dunwich thru the middle of the island . Here you will find brown lake which you can drive to . The
blue lake is quite a hike to get to on foot . The key holes are depressions left by the sandmining that has filled with
water and it is a nice drive . You can access them by driving along george nothling drive and it detours to the right and travells behind the dunes , it joins the road that goes from dunwich to main beach .

Jumpinpin has great fishing. The eastern beach is very easy to drive on and is a great place to swim and look for pipis.
Also, you can
camp with dogs on the eastern beaches, but not sure about Adder.
Have Fun!

Thank's Adda and Ben.
at least I will be armed with some idea as to where I'm going to as I hate regretting not seeing something when I could have :)
I just called the caravan
park and they said I can get a beach Permit from them and a heap of other
places on the Island but it must have gone up in price as they told me $46.50 for a 12 month pass I wish I could go back on in that 12 months but I cant LOL!
Thanks again guys .

John.
Oposite the turnoff to Amity (in post above) there is a track that is on your right hand side (100 meter back from the turn off near the bush shelter). This is a
well worn sand track, and if you follow it for approx 4-5 km....you come to a
parking area where you can walk approx 100 meters to the old Trig station. magnificant
views of
Moreton Island, west to Point Look out, and all over Morton Bay and
Brisbane City. You can then contiue south on this track and end up near the Golf Course and Radar station. Brown Lake is a great place for a swim after being in the surf....do not be put off by the brown tinge....it is great to swim in. I spend around 6 weeks there each year.
Camping on Flinders.....actually heading there for 10 days in September Holidays, and 3 week this Christmas. Some good fishing at Amity off
the wharf as
well (for the kids). There is a great
IGA supermarket half way between
Adder Rock, and Point Look Out (on right hand side).
Well priced for all your needs (almost
Brisbane prices if not the same)
Watch out for the following.
A: No drive time around hide tide. (Can be fines) 1 hour either side of high tide
B: Radar on Flinders (40km speed limit)
C: Breathlizers on
the beach
You will have a ball.
Simon
