I just modified my Lightforce Spotlights, I was going to purchase som HID Lights, cost around $600.00, but thought may as well give it a try. I purchased a HID XENON H1 BULB KIT from the States, cost including freight was $70.00 aust. I removed the Aluminium globe holder and had it machined out for $15.00 to suit the 25mm base of the H1 globes, then just mounted them and presto I now have Lightforce HID Spotlights at a cost of $85.00 for the upgrade.

Cost in Aust for the Lightforce Kit is around $270.00, next step is some HID H4 globes for the Headlights, hope SWMBO doesn't read this. LOL

I converted a handheld Lightforce Blitz 240 to a HID unit for $130 and wow what a difference , they do lend themselves well to HID conversions.

"HID H4 globes for the Headlights, hope SWMBO doesn't read this. LOL ".

NOT recommended. I did that- asked around, got the best recommended conversions and was NOT impressed. The light pattern is poor, with lots of light in close (useless) less out near the low beam cutoff, and substantially more glare for on coming drivers.
In any event it is 100% illegal. and you are more than likely sooner or later to be pulled over and given a defect notice. One of my neighbours is a highway patrol cop- he says he gets people all the time for that. (you can pick them a mile away!)
I eventually pulled them out and went back to top quality Philips "plus 80" i think bulbs- much more useable light and totally legal.
cheers

Concur with David N, HID low beam, way too bright for oncoming traffic.

HIDs are only suitable for low beams where your car has projector-style headlamps. Otherwise, as stated above, the light will be reflected everywhere and will just mostly blind others. I put a kit in my Outback and it is easily the best money I have spent.
