Hey Guys,

From Thargo we will be travelling down to Hungerford - staying hopefully at Kilcowera Station on the way. Any feedback on Hungerford? Things to do?

I notice there is a National park - Currawinya - near Hungerford. Any feedback?? Can you camp here??

Then we will be heading back up to Eulo - I notice there is a waterhole on the way back up called Caiwarra - Any feedback??

We are travelling with our 2 year old daughter so frequent stops will be on our to do list!!

Thanks again

Not sure of camping at Hungerford but the pub Royal Mail Hotel is a rustic good old outback pub. You can camp at Currawinya N/P along the Paroo river, also there is good camping behind the Eulo Queen Hotel in Eulo.

yes you can camp in Hungerford. The camp ground is very good with great amenities, good showers and flush toilets. Just across the road is a very old pub, really worth a visit and the owners are typically country friendly. On some days they serve Bilby burgers but each time I have been there they had sold out yesterday.
Currawinya National park is worth a visit also although I haven't camped there.

We have been in that area a number of times and have camped at a bore on the old road to Thargomindah not far north of Hungerford. It is bush camping beside a ground tank.

Also bush camping in the park is very good if you camp on the river at the old Caiwarro ruins. The road up the other (eastern side) to Eulo was very good last year.

Someone recently described the camping on the Paroo at the ruins as the best they had had during their trip. There is no firewood to be gathered and you must bring your owned milled timber for a fire. Fishing said to be good.

There is also Lake Numalla.

Currawinya is worth a visit make sure you visit both the lakes and the Caiwarro Ruins, take the track across the causeway and follow it to the pump station a you'll find a great camping spot besides the river, also the shearing shed is good value.

60series - cross the Paroo at the ruins and then travel north - the pump hole is sign posted.
