Hi. I have a specific question on tyres for my Toyota LC100 TD. It has 17" rims.
Previously I have been running Cooper S/T LT275/70R17 for trips and currently run Bridgestone Dueller A/T 693 275/65R17 around town.
I am looking for a replacement tyre for trips and am hoping to keep with an LT A/T tyre. I have been happy with every aspect of the Cooper's, especially long wear, but am concerned about excessive lug chipping.
Searching the
Forum and the tyre manufacturers websites is not giving many options for 17" LT tyres without going to muddies. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

MIckey Thompson make AT 4 rib and 5 Rib in 265/70 17 and 285/70 17. I am happy with
mine.

Thanks Boobook2. Do you have the 4 or 5 rib? What travels have they done?

Hi Rod,
We've just done over 8,000ks on the
Oodnadatta,
Birdsville, Strzelecki,
Bore tracks plus the Simpson on Cooper S/T LT245/70R17 on a 120 Prado D4D. Although there was some lug damage (no punctures), it was insignificant and we are likely to still get the 50 - 60,000k guaranteed out of them. We're pretty happy all up.
Whether the LC is tougher on tyres than the Prado, I can't help.
regards
Paul

Bridgestone have just brought out the 694LT Dueler. I have always fitted the 693LT to my Trayback, but when i purchased my Prado i could no longer fit the 693s, so i thought i would try the 694s. So far have done about 15000kms, from
Broome across Nullabor to Tassie, then up to the
Gold Coast and back across to
Broome.
Mine are not the LTs though as they hadnt been werent available when i needed new tyres. I would highly recommend the 694s and presume the LTs to be even better. Hardly any wear after a whole lap of Oz, and they were the cheapest 17'' tyres on the market, i will never look pass Bridgestone again.

Thanks for the update Kroozer. I have heard other positive stories about the 694's - unfortunately they don't come in 17" LT form and I am trying to stay with an LT.

Price the D694 LT, Toyo Open Country and the Kelly as
well. All very good tyres. We choose the D694 LT for its better bitument, wet and dry performance and the fact that it's quieter than almost anything else around as
well as being excellent for the majority of off-road use and specifically touring
You also have the GoodYear Silent Armour which is an excellent tyre along with the about to be released MTR with Kevlar. We are waiting on a set of the latter to test but by the look of their tread pattern they will be noisier as they look pretty much like a muddy

Hi RobAck. Thanks for your feedback.
I've found some information on the Toyo's and added them to the list. There is very little information available on Kelly's - are they still imported into Australia? The lack of information is not that comforting if you need to get a replacement out of the city limits.
Cheers
