A bad experience. Last week we filled up the 3.0l patrol at the local suburban BP. Two days later the warning light came on. When I inspected the fuel through the feul filter as described in the manual I discovered water in the diesel. Thinking that perhaps this was caused by condensation I bled the filter and hoped for the best. When I checked it a day later water was still evidient (although the warning light did not come on). We had had enough by this time and went back to the service station. To their credit they have been great. Apparently some damage occurred to their diesel tank cover and water entered from the nearby car wash. They are removing my tanks, emptying them, cleaning them, replacing the filter and fuel at their expense.

This could have been a very expensive exercise however the warning light and the willingness of BP to accept immediate responsibility give me some faith. After all, nobody is perfect and sh** does happen. At least a company was willing to put its hand up and make good.

Two and a half weeks before we head to Ayres Rock. We pick up our new Kimberley Kamper on Friday! Can't wait!

Spy,
You sound like you where lucky, our neighbour, also Patrol 3.0, had similar problem!
But had to pay for repairs himself, apparently cost $500.

It could have happened to any diesel, obviously.

Good on BP for their honesty. I'd say they had more than the one complaint to be so willingly compliant, but it's good to see that someone (a consumer) has had a 'win' anyway.

Have a good trip.

Of course not Diamond, the Publican may hunt me down with his anti drinking posse!

My web site is still being developed, but I will send you the link when we return. I will be keeping a diary on the trip so it should explain all!

Out bush water in the diesel is surprisingly common.
It's a good idea to fit an extra water trap filter B4 the factory filter. I did many years ago and have caught a lot of water over the years.
Have a good trip.- I'm jealous.

Good to hear they came to the party. As to your KK we took our's on its maiden trip in July & it beats a tent by miles, 2 best things we got extra are a 49ltr evacool ice box to keep the drinks cold & save opening the fridge all the time ( it fits perfectly in box on draw bar & the day annex as it stays attached to camper when folded away. Enjoy your trip we can't wait for our next trip.Regards Bob

Hi Spy, Glad you had a win. Just wanted to say have a great trip, we did, if you are looking for a caravan park in Alice, we found the "G-Day Mate Tourist Park" (caravan park ) to be excellent. Hope you climb the rock it's well worth it.
