was changing the plugs to anderson plugs on my waeco fridge this afternoon and accidentally shorted the wires, this blue the 15v fuse in the line from the battery. now i have the fuse replace the fridge wont run on 12V, but runs fine on 240V

Questions:

Is it likely that i have blown a fuse in 12V circuit of the fridge? If so can this be replaced easily or is it a service agent job?

I have read the threads about the poly fuse but this is slightly different to these issues.

If you removed the cigarete plug from the line you shouid have fitted an inline fuse to the cord as there was one in the original plug to protect the fridge.

Just went @ looked @ my CF40 &looked through grills & cant see any fuse inside if it still works on 240V it dosnt sound terminal you may need to take it to a Waeco repair center. Also double check polarity The lead with raised strip down it is Negative.

Thanks mate, you know what ... you got it in one! just frightened the cr%^ out of the wife by taking the nissan from the carport to the shed to test it, she thought someone was stealing the car lol.

Anyway i dont know how i did it but i got the polarity around the wrong way on the fridge plug. Stuffed if i know cause i thought i'd checked that pretty well. Anyway thanks for your help.

Anyway my motto is :
"SORRY BUT I REFUSE TO STOP TRYING THINGS THAT I COULD GET WRONG JUST BECAUSE I COULD GET THEM WRONG!" I guess this is a good example.

i will put the inline fuses in tomorrow to help protect the fridges from damage anyway.
