Hi, currently have a hard floor camper trailer which I am very happy with, however on our most recent trip saw a few of the Kimberley Caravans and am interested in any feedback from people who have one, they look to be very well set up. Are they set up so you can be self sufficient for 2 - 3 weeks without top ups?

Cheers,
Pat

Pat, I am an owner of a Kimberley Karavan and am in regular contact with many other owners. What do you wish to know? There is a phone number with my rig profile and also the address of the Kimberley Karavan Owners Group, which is a free group, but only accessed by people owning a Karavan or who have paid the deposit - in other words, those committed.KKOG here.

We have KKOG members in each state, who probably could talk with you. There are 128 members on the email list, and 74 have their phone numbers available to other members. Over one in three on the road.

There are a number of Karavan owners on EO, including ............. well, they can identify themselves to you, but many are away currently.

On the time away from base without top-ups, it depends on your draw-down on water, power, and other consumables. There are tricks to improve some of those too. For power, you can option up solar panels on the roof now. I produced a little trick to over come restrictions to the amount of water you can get into the drinking water tank too. It is frequently the way with so many moulded tanks, that the air bleed hole isn't at the highest point.

thanks John, basically I should go and have a look inside one, I like the solar option, the longer I can stay away from a caravan park the happier I am. Do they have a full size qs bed (hubby is 6foot4) and how much room/storage is available inside? I will look at website, but wanted to know how happy people are with them.
Thanks,
Pat

Pat, I am 6'4" too. I have a king size bed at home but the Karavan has a queen size, yes, a full queen size mattress. Not as thick, but we have an innerspring one.

You would be better looking at the Kimberley Karavans web site rather than try to get into ours. You will see that there was a gathering of owners of 20 Karavans in April and there is to be another of 17 or so next month in South Australia too. There was a lady who asked on here last month who has just ordered, and no, I am not getting anything from Kimberley, nor do I have shares in the company.

Pat, storage is something you have to plan for. There isn't a lot.

If I rolled ours, there is nothing else I could buy that I could take to the places I can take the KKaravan, apart from a camper tralier. I repeat nothing. I would have to replace it with another KK. Ours is over two years old, coming up three years and it is great.

I believe there is something on the drawing board for another manufacturer at $100K or near. They say they have "orders" but people who have been to the factory have seen no evidence of the creation.
