Just about to set up a new air system in the Troopy.
Going to fit a new ARB Compressor in the rear under the drawer system floor and run the airlines to a outlet fitting on the rear Kaymar bar so I can just plug in the airline and do the tyres etc without opening the bonnet etc.

Also intending to fit air receiver under the truck which will be fitted with a solenoid to allow me to use the receiver as required and shut it off when not required.

My question is I need to get some PVC or Polyurethane air line and fittings to suit.
Any suggestions as to a good supplier of these airlines in Melbourne.
A few won't cut to length and I don't need a 100 meter roll.

Thanks

John

I have inserted the URL for Bearing Wholsalers which lists all their outlets with a couple out your side of town.

Don't be phased by the name as these dudes carry anything and everything as well as bearings.

In their Bayswater shop (which I go to) they have all the Air Line that you would want from the blue PVC to the black thinner stuff that uses the push/pull quick fittings, and there is no reason why all their other sops don't have same.

They also have a large selection of brass fittings (BSP etc) , JAMEC/NITTO couplers, airline clips etc etc

Along with this they cut to order off big rolls of air line.

If you decide to buy from them, make sure you ask for Trade Price.

I am sure you will be stunned by the low prices compared to else where.

Hi John,

I originally used the blue tube and push-in fittings in a similar manner as you plan to. You can see it in the pic below of how it was installed.

However, my ARB compressor gets awfully hot and blew out the fittings at the pump end when pumping up my 4th tyre on a hot day. I have now replaced the blue hose with 1/2" stainless steel pipe and this seems to dissipate the heat much better. I would suggest that you use something more heat proof for the first ~1m of the air line.

Cheers

Thanks captain good info.
Did you use a SS braided line or a length of SS pressure tube?

Hi John,

I used SS tube, there were some off-cuts laying around at work and used a bender to get the right shape. A potential problem with braided SS is that it has a plastic inner core which may also be heat sensitive too.

Do yourself a favour and get good snap on fittings for the ends . There are snap on fittings and there are cheap snap on fittings .
