Hello all,

Heading off in a few months and have finally got to the stage of working out power options for our caravan.

I have been tolled many a different thing by salesmen as to what to buy, And just looking for some other opinions on the subject...

I'm steering towards a Honda EU20 or something similar, Any tips when buying or places to get these cheap would be much appreciated!

Kind regards,

Louie :)

You are on the right track with the gennie
You will just have to ring around and see who you can screw down the most.

Caravan shows can be a source of good deals sometimes.

you may need a Yamaha EF2400 2.4kva to power some air conditioners. The Honda will not power many air conditioners when the temperature is over 40C. That information is also in the Honda handbook.
If you are in no hurry the new to Australia Yamaha EF2000iS will be available in October. US Yamaha EF2000iS Generator

I tried to buy a Yamaha 2400 just over a week ago and there were none in the country.

The last shipment came in and were 90% sold after one day and sold out in three days.

Subaru are also short on 3200 units .

Where is this damn recession.

How about a Subaru 1700i Inverter for $1649 delivered that is a good price .

Oops shsh Ill get into trouble.

If it's an Ibis a/c a Honda EU20 won't run it - or mine won't anyhow. Air Command send me a mod (soft start?) that they say will work, but I haven't had it fitted yet.

The soft start kit will work, I fitted one on our Ibis and no problem now with the 2400 Yamaha

I brought the Yamaha 2400 last week - they are on special at Gotya Tackle and Camping in Perth for $1890. Its rated output is 8.7 amps and runs my Caravan Airconditioner (6amps) with 2.7 amps to spare for the TV and caravan battery charger. The Honda 20i would have been too light for my load. You need a bit in reserve in hot weather.
Regards Dennis.
