My old man's 12 y.o. trakshak has been round the block twice, up the cape, fraser, gulf etc etc etc all on the original rebounders and one change of shocks.

Gday,
Im not talking from expierience, just here say, but I looked into Alko a while ago and the main problem I heard was although there isnt much to go wrong with it , but if it does.......parts are near imposiible to find away from the capital cities.
Ive followed behind my mates Kimberly camper on some pretty rough tracks and the ride is incredible compared to my leaf spring set up. Its not out of the ordinary to see 6 inches of air under my trailer wheels where his just absorbs the bumps.
Id go for independant trailing arm suspension if I was changing mine.

Cheers

I have Alko 7 leaf eye to eye rebounds on my off road trailer (Camel Bushman) and it has performed very well indeed on tracks like the CSR among others.
They are simple been around as a proven suspension system for ever, relatively cheap to repair and easy to get parts in remote places was my main thoughts.

Having said that it does not detract from issue that the new generation independents, trailing are etc are also very good but can suffer issues also.
The vehicle I just completed the CSR with was towing a Tvan which has Koni shocks and they leaked like a sieve less than 12 months old on the trip over to Wiluna.
We changed them out at Wiluna before heading Nth up the CSR. (Replaced under warranty)

The Tvan handled the conditions very well indeed and was most impressive on the corrugations.
Mine as said above the wheels left the ground from time to time but still did everything the Tvan did and less than quarter the price.
Trailer weight/speed/track conditions all obviously had a bearing on how often the wheels lifted and the Tvan wheels also left the ground from time to time.

Nothings perfect and will probably depend more on the type/manufacturer of the trailer you choose and the amount you want to spend as to whats offered.
