Hi all, this a question for the gold prospectors,is there much difference between the GPX4000 and the GP3500,to warrant the price difference.

There is difference not necessarily justified by the price. Guess that applies to almost anything in life.

There is a fairly big difference between the two, the GPX 4000 is a much newer designed model with enhanced features.
A GPX 4000 will in most cases find smaller claims at greater depth then the GP 3500 but it does depend on how much experience you have.
You can have two different models of detectors being used by two different people, they will both hate each others detector and say theirs is better.
When a new detector is released most people don't like them...not because they are worse..it's because they are not use to them and have to learn how to get the best out of the new one......then the usually say after using the new one for a while "It does thing so much better and should of bought one ages ago".
The same goes for the GPX 4500 is it that much better then the GPX 4000....YES...is it worth the extra money....YES if you know how to use it.
How much experience do you have?

thanks olcoolone
I've only had 2 days experience,on a 3500,and I would like to buy a detector,I could afford a second hand 35 but would be scraping the barrel for a 4000.

What sort of detecting are you going to be doing?
There are some good value GPX 4000's on the market at the moment due to people upgrading to the 4500.
These detectors are fantastic for gold and not so good for other detecting like relics and coins.
If you wanted a general purpose detector I would recommend something else.
