Hi
I have a 2002 petrol live axle cruiser with very "sloppy" steering. We also want to do some traveling with a 17' "off-road" jayco van - not very serious off-road work tho, as the van would not take it.
Was wondering if anyone has any tips re
suspension up-grades as we want to try and keep the cruiser as comfortable as p[ossible.
We did a trip around oz in a nissan towing a 26' van and the old man emu
suspension altho great off road and towing was too "stiff" when used as a "car"
cheers

Hi,
the steering boxes usually need a "nip" up after 100000km, this makes a huge difference. But not over tight just enough to remove 95% of the play.
Also check front AND rear wheel bearings for slack as this can make a huge difference too.
Finally replace the steering dampner as they tend to get about 1/4 inch of play in the travel of the shaft you can only check this by removing one end of the dampner.
These are the cheapest options and will probably fix it anyway.
I usually go for a set of Kings springs and foam cell shocks as they ride really
well and not harsh in the bun like the OME and TJM springs.
Cheers
Dave

and check the steering joints - they make a big difference, and sway bar bushes
Actually the trick is to do all these things at once - you gotta throw some money at it - and then you see a real benefit. When you only do one at a time it seems like you are chasing your tail and never really get something that feels new again...
my 2¢ worth :)
