Im so bleep , some may think its petty, but I got a vt converted to gas and it was 2250, so 500 with the rebate and then he says today that it needs new plugs and leads for $180 for the gas conversion guarantee to be valid. I just googled it and seems the new leads are common with gas conversions but is 180 a rip off or what? Now the budget is blown out and I am thinking I should have got a cheaper conversion around 2 grand but this guy sounded good on the phone, blah blah. Oh
well, lets hope it gos
well. Its a BRC system for what its worth, he was gonna put an impco in for 500 more but I have a impco on the patrol and dont like it really.
thanks

If they are iridium plugs, you're probably looking at around $80 - $90 for a set of six, couple that with good quality leads and I can see where you could suddenly arrive at $180...

thanks for the reply, what are iridium plugs? My wife reckons they should include the plugs in the conversion.

Hi Iridium plug have an iridium tipped centre electrode which lasts a lot longer than the steel one. I have them running in my V8 commodore ute on gas with no problems regarding backfiring. I felt they would withstand higher combustion temperatures that can occur with gas. Have a look at the NGK Spark Plug site. It will explain them to you. Regards,Bob.

Just got my LPG serviced on my 4.5l 105 and the new leads and plugs were $250.00. So $180.00 sounds good.

Oldpop, NGK make an iridium spark plug specially designed for use with LPG and as others have mentioned, I have used standard iridium plugs with LPG and no backfires... Iridium plugs ability to generate a very pure spark helps to efficiently ignite the increased density of LPG/air mixture in the combustion chamber...

$180 sounds fair for plugs and leads. around $27 for plugs $80 for a good set of leads plus an hour to do them, you need to move the alternator out of the way. And i personally I would have gone with the Impco kit.
Cheers Andrew
