Think you could be right there...
The new model Prado is already ugly without doing that to it. What was Toyota thinking when they changed from the good looking previous model to what they have now???

It makes no difference..

Thats the new laws out for "PEDISTRIAN SAFETY"..

All bars HAVE TO BE LIKE THIS LEGALLY now. Follow the profile of the vehicle or some crap

Well that is true, they are hanging off one of the ugliest fronts on the business, only thing making them look better would be another toyota hanging off the front end, at least there'd be two off the road for a time........So many places to go!
So much work to do :0(

yes "PEDISTRIAN SAFETY" is the reason behind the new bars but in the near future you will be only able to fit so called Plastic bars (smart bars) to your bus

But they're not Toyota products - just some locally made junk! I have a firm rule to NEVER use non genuine parts after all the trouble I've heard people having with long range tanks, turbos etc. Stay genuine - car makers spend a lot of money on R&D and their products reflect that. You can't expect small operations to have the same resources!

Sam you have just pointed out something that people have to realise, the manufactures of vehicals design cars. I will say at this point in recent years Toyota has lifted it's game with it's 4WD's and introduced the same standard's for occupant crash protection as normal cars.

This said they don't fit a bull bar from the factory, they don't do anything to increase occupant protection in a serious crash! if they did they would simply make the front of the vehical with it intergrated from the factorty. In fact the Genuine bars for toyota & nissan you will find are built here in Australia to thier specification's (cost & appearance) they even export them oversea's.

Ford has a factory intergrated roo bar for the falcons, first car maker in the world to do it! spent millions on re-search and the data was used to increase the frontal protection in minor accidents eg animal strike without getting increased pedastrian injury. Ford is still one of the leading World car makers and the design teams work is used all over the world. Most people don't buy new cars they buy someones or some companys used car. so miss out on this type of intergrated product.

For all the stories you might have heard about after market products it they where that bad they would go broke!

So what do you do when you want a long range tank, MP3 player, dual batteries, shower kit, better quality suspension, etc etc

Remember the parts are usually made by the accessory companies for the manufacturer, EG ARB makes Nissan bars, and some Nissan genuine kit.

Toyota 120 Series Prado Bars , and GU Patrol are happily made by ARB.

Cargo Barriers for both are made by milford, and Hayman Reece make all their tow bars.

ECW Prado bars look Poxy, the Genuie Toyota Black Steel look ok.

I might just get a TJM for now

And I think the 120 Series Prado Looks Magic, although i am biased :P
