They are not sine wave.

As the man above has said, they are not sine wave, they are a square wave output which makes them mostly unsuitable for running switch mode power supplies and electronic devices.

That generally leaves out battery chargers, microwaves, most modern fridges in fact almost anything except an incandescent light globe.

The Honda and the Engel both use Sawafuji electronics but they are very definitely different electronics.

Engel actually impress me with their ability to extract a square wave from a rotating AC machine, that takes talent. Of very little use but it does take talent to achieve!

I wouldnt buy a gennie based on price if you have to camp near it.
The cheap price will be forgotten when listening to it drone on through the day/night.
I too nearly bought the Engel gennie ,Im just glad I was in a position to compare the noise levels of the various gennies before I handed the cash over
The Yamaha and Honda are worth the extra.

You know, I actually bought one of those Engel generators.
Where we live we seemed to have black outs or brown outs quite regularly. Since I bought the Engel, guess what, no such power interruptions. So in 2 years, I have never run it.
I bought it to run the freezer and (beer) fridges at home, so I assume it is fit for that purpose.
