I am wanting to convert my IPF 900 spotties to HID, does anyone know what globe type they are please? I thought they were H1, but that is more of a guess. I would look myself but am away from home for work and hoping to find a place over in the USA cheaper than what they are in AUS.

Also, any tips or brands to choose/stay away from would be most welcome.

Thanks

Captain

They are a H3. I did mine. One thing is that if you have one spot and one spread you will probably find the spot a pain unless you mainly do open straight road driving. The spot is too intense and distracting when you convert to HID. You can get a spare spread lense for about $50 from ARB if it necessary, and you can do it later. You will also have to enlarge the hole in the back of the light to about 20mm to fit the connectors.

The other advice I would give is get 50 or 55w over 35w as the price premium is not much. AND regardless of what anyone might tell you, get 4300K, not 6000K colour. The 6000K are too blue and can be annoying next to your more yellow headlights. Also they are not as bright as 4300K. Just about any brand, even from HK / China is ok these days IMHO.

Hi Boobook2,

Thanks for that, will make sure its H3 ~50W 4300K HID's for me! Luckily I already have 2 spreads, I originally wanted 1 spot & 1 spread but ended up with 2 spreads.

I just attached the ballasts to the frame behind the grille. Perfect length for the cable in my Landcruiser.

Will HID's fit in the 900's?? the connector and wiring is fairly bulky and they don't have much room between the back of the lense and the housing. i considered doing it to mine but unsure if they will fit?

For $20 plus postage you can't go wrong with these.
