Hi guy's we are getting close to take off! 31/8/09
Just after some info on a couple of road conditions, as we will be going up the Oodnadatta Track we would like to say that we saw Lake Eyre (north).
The question is should we go up to Muloorina from Marree to camp and travel to Prescott Point or stay at William Creek and travel out to Halligans Bay both would be day trips to veiw the lake. We are towing a (HD)camper trailer with a Diesel Pajero and carrying all recovery gear that I think we will need
It's hard to get up and go to work when it's so close!!!!!!!!!

Hi Tony ,

We went to Halligan Bay. I also have a DiD Pajero and camper.

We left the camper at William Creek camp ground and just took the Paj to the Bay. But you could take your camper no probs.Didn't use the facilities at the Bay but you can camp there. The amenities at William Creek are pretty dirty or they where when we where there but the staff were run of there feet.

The road was OK we only sat on about 70 KM max just got to watch out for traffic coming other way and don't slow down and showering you with stones. Two of our friends had their wind screens cracked on the trip.

I don't think you should need too much recovery gear maybe a and some tyre repair kit is all we needed.
So make sure you have a jack and wheel brace that is easy to get to, the last thing you want to do is empty the back of the Paj out to get to the jack and wheel brace. Also a steel plate or a slab or timber to place under the jack if the ground is soft or unstable.

Have a great trip we did.

Cheers Scoof . :-)

Do yourself a favour and camp a night at Halligans. The total isolation and silence makes it an awesome experience. The road in is fine for a camper.

Be prepared to see a lot of salt and not much water..
