Hi all,
I was reading the Qld standards for vehicle mods and I discovered that:
"Roof racks must not protrude more than 50mm beyond
the drip mould"
I guess this means that the majority of boat loaders are illegal (in Qld anyway).
Cheers
Dave

Mine doesn't either but as most are on patrol's (Has mould) or cruisers (no drip mould) it may make an interesting argument with a transport nazi on the side of the road.

I would say if the boat loader was bolted to the pack rack it would then come under the no more than 150mm past the side mirrors each side rule
cheers shane..

Gday,
The other problem also is how much weight you can put up on the Rack.I was at the local steel merchants and they have the new weight limits on the wall for Racks.
I was in a 1 tonne ute(2wd) with ladder racks and the new limit is 100kgs.My order was just over 100kgs and they would not let me take it in one lot,so I was a little "Peeved".
Max limit for Roof bars is 40kgs.
To carry more weight than these limits requires certification of the Racks.
I guess this will be another thing to get pinged on as
well as insurance issues.
Cheers Guy
