I have been looking at ways to increase the seating capacity of my fj40 which currently only has the two front bucket seats, adding rear seats seems to be a challenge an a half considering all the legalities, does anyone know how I can get a hold of the original seats to make it at least a 3 seater or would I be able to fit in
the bench seat out of another model say a Hiace van or something?

If you are in
Brisbane,
try these guys. I had them fit a second row of seats in an older 4B and I reckon they did a good job. I just searched them on google to get the url but I see other cities come up with the same business name so maybe they have an outlet in a city near you if you are not in Brissy?????
Good luck,
trevor.

The FJ40s originally had the passenger 1 1/2 bench
seat making it almost 3 across, if you have buckets they are not original. These shorty's also had side facing seats in the back which could hold 2 passengers on each side, these folded up when not in use. I tried to retrofit side facing seats in my HJ45 troopy and found it impossible to satisfy engineering for the
seat belt mounts apparently the original mounts are no good enough any more. Best bet would be try wreckers for original front bench and fit that. Full sized seats in the back won't leave any room for any luggage - they don't call them Shortys for nothing.

Thanks for the comments, I guess the challenge is now to locate an original front
seat from somewhere
