Can anyone who has travelled the above road recently can advise as to it's condition?
I'll be in Meeka soon and thought this might make an interesting run but it looks very remote with very little in the way of settlements along the way should there be any problems.
I can't find anything in the "Treks" area and nothing on the Main Roads WA site so any advices will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Alan.

G'day, If you are going to travel on the Meekatharra-Ashburton Downs road and then through Pingandy and Dooley Downs Stations, we went through there in May this year, the Meeka-A/downs road was rough in places, and some of the dips/creeks were nasty if you go into them a bit quick, the other road is quite winding in places, a bit corrugated and quite scenic in places 60-70kmh. Be careful of animals and stock. Yes it is a bit quiet through there recommend you have a bit of drinking water on board and a second spare, or a patch/plug kit. Have a good trip. Cheers. Kanga1.

Was through there in July and the road in the main was fantastic. If staying on the black top then the major towns all have van parks. Plenty of free camping to be had just keep your eyes open.

Oops getting confused with the Karijini post above regarding the black top (red wine has that effect). We drove from Karijini down the Asburton Downs Meekatharra Road for some distance before heading back into Meeka.

This is Ozhumvee using Micks login ;-)) that road is pretty good we came down it from mt Augustus a month or so ago and while there was an occasional rough section it was basically 2wd, 75 -80kph

Hi Alan
If you are going to use the Meeka Landor road it was pretty good a month ago out to Mt Gould .Dad owns the station on the Murchison River 125 kms. out of Meeka . The shire usually grades this road before Landor races in october out to Landor. Hope this is a help .

Thanks Stuart, I'll be up there tomorrow and am looking forward to the trip.
I'll make plans for the next stage when we get to Mt Augustus...just point the car and go!
Alan.
