Hi Everyone,
So we just upgraded our Oztrail camper with a 2008 Pioneer Comoroal 421.

I have some concerns about the gas fridge, i am currently using an evakool 12v with 360amp hours of batteries and 2 80W solar panels. (never run out of power).

First question has anyone ripped out the default fridge (dometic) and replaced it with a 12V like a Engel/Waeco upright?? What are the benefits?

Also i am keen to know if anyone has put like a rack or something on the back of the top of the camper to put like light storage?? i.e boards tent posts etc?

Lastly we want to put a pressured water system onboard with extra tanks. Whats the size of the additional tanks people use?? Thoughts on this.

Thanks for any feedback anyone can throw my way..
Cheers
Justin

Hi Justin, i have a 2004 coromal pioneer 450 with a rhino rack alloy tray I have installed on top to carry extra gear. I always remove any heavy gear before winding up.

I have also installed another 60 litre water tank and a water pump with switch next to sink. Much better than hand pump.

They are a great camper.

hi shane, you don't have any pic's of how you mounted the rhino rack do you..? I am slightly worried about drilling through the fibreglass roof..? Normally i would do most of the modifications myself, but it's an expensive camper so want to make sure i don't screw anything up...

Justin,

I bolted one roof rack rail either side of the van. 3 x 10mm gal bolts siliconed with sikaflex and used 50mm square washers on the ceiling side of the van. Been there for 3 years and no probs with some serious offroad use in that time. Mounted alloy rack straight to these 2 rails. They spread the load well over a 2m length.
