I have a few spots that are dull on a door, about 50mm dia. No polish seems to bring it back to the same polish level as the rest of the door. Maybe someone can tell me what to use or does it need machine cutting and buffing? The paint is as hard as anything i have seen before.. Bring back the old acrylic paint days......... Michael

I would imagine it would be 2 pack like most modern vehicles are.
I assume it is white as per the rig pic, it may have been repaired at some stage and different paint used.
If you have metallic paint and it does this the clear coat is usually sunburnt and requires a respray to repair, no amount of buffing will help. If buffed it will usually be worse after a few weeks.
Cheers

Iv'e had the patrol since new, no repairs, I think the two options these days are as you said, 2 pack or that
water based acrylic.. Im really looking for something that will polish it.. even kitten #2 wont even look at it,it only takes the tar and the grime off.. Michael

It may have been repaired when new before it was sold.
I have worked at dealers and quite a few vehicles came off the transport trucks from the docks with scratches and dents in them. I also saw one bloke loosen all the chains on a corolla, remove 3 of the 4 and try to reverse it off. After the 1 foot of slack took up, the wishbone on the corolla came to a halt but the car kept going. It didn't drive too straight after that.

Maguires "paint cleaner" does a great job of removing annoying scratches from 2pac paint....
It is in a plastic bottle like polish,,, then you should polish it with some sort of wax polish afterward....
Expensive though.
Repco, Autobarn etc etc..
Oh,, it is a hand polish.
Worked on my GU Patrols before i bought my Cruiser and works
well on the Cruiser also.

Hey Michael,
If it's original paint then it would most deffinately be a two-pak paint. I also think it would be a direct gloss paint, which means it has no clear coat over it, the colour and the gloss is applied as one.
As for the dull spot it sounds like there are really fine scratches in the paint causing a dull reflection. If you can't polish like you say then i would just take it to a crash repair
shop and they should be able to fix fairly quickly. They will be able to tell you what is wrong if it can't be buffed.
I doubt it will be anything to drastic, as paints usually start to break down on the top surfaces (bonnet, roof etc) not on the doors, especiallly if it's in the middl;e of a door. Probably just needs a light sand with wet and dry and then a good buff.
Hope it all works out
