Hi learned ones,
like a lot of people here I like to be armed with as much info before I contact a manufacturer..
I have a Dometic RM 4601 2door 3 way fridge in our caravan, that doesn't want to work very
well on gas. On 240 & 12 v it is fine.I get a pilot light and quite a good flame but only the freezer keeps its cool, the rest of the fridge goes up to about 12 degrees with an outside temp of about 25 degrees.
We have been travelling for the past 3 months and it has been a real pain when we want to
camp away from 240v powerThe fridge is still under waranty and 2 service agents have had a look at it, neither gave me much confidence..The first one spent 5 hours and replaced the thermostat, didn't make any difference..The second one a month later said the obvious answer was the gas jet, they didn't have one but forwarded me one by post, I installed it..didn't make any difference either.
We will be home in 6 weeks (north side of
Brisbane) any Dometic agents in that area recomended?
Any suggestions?
thanks in advance
Greg

Been there and done that. Its a good chance the main jet will be partially blocked, even tho the flame looks good it is not hot enough to work the system. There is a filter in the intake which will also restrict the gas flow. Barnray

Check the opperation of the gas stove, if the flame is a bit low you will find that the regulator is blocked.
One cause is if the regulator is lower than the bottle outlet, liquid in the line will drain into the regulator and block it.

Hey Greg,
there is a place in Lawnton who specialises in caravan fridges and
camping fridges i've forgotten his name but have used him very satisfied, we had the same prob once turned out regulator was below top of the bottle hence all the gunk ran back to the bottle causing a blockage somewhere in the system, get him to check it out for you.
cheers honest.
