Hi all, Just wondering if anyone knows whether you are allowed to camp around the regans ford area??? If so can anyone point me in a good direction? Also are the ticks as bad as they say they are? Should i leave the dogs at home?

Nath'n'Lynz,
there was some discussion back in 2003 about the area,
http://www.exploroz.com/Forum/Topic/4701/Reagans_Ford.aspx

Find a nice place to camp and have a glass or two of wine ............... to the ranger that tells you to move on ........... get it put it in writing ........ and add that you want it noted that both drivers have consumed alcohol.

Re Ticks ............ headed up the coast a couple of years ago when the locals were spraying themselves with surface spray to keep the blighters (ticks) at bay ............. the dogs can look after themselves ........... can you??

Enjoy your trip.

Cheers,
Wayne & Sally.

Don't know about the camping but when we were marshalling in the area during the Australasia Safari Rally, one of the other crews got smothered in them. take plenty of vaseline just in case and a good flee collar for the dog.

Nath'n'Liz
We camped at regens ford rest area in May this year at least six other vehicles were camped for the night When we arrived home after our trip to Karrinjini we received a letter from the shire informing us that staying overnight was an offence with a $100 fine and that it was a rest area only designated day use However toilets were available including a dump point for chemical toilets They sent a photocopy of the sign which said no camping which we honestly did not see when we drove in late at night The letter stated that our vehicle had been seen the night before and again in the morning so they keep a close watch on the site we never heard any more about being fined there is a caravan park about a kilometre from the rest area This I would say is the main reason for not camping there and not any other reason

all the best Steve

Yeah was pretty sure you wernt allowed too but were still looking for places to camp where you can get away from everyone else, hence why we woudnt stay at a caravan park, also having dogs doesnt help! Never mind we'll keep on searching, cheers for the reply, Lyndsey
