We have rental pantechs at work. Your economy depends on your speed, but anything over 100 they will drink bigtime.

If you are looking at buying Mazda T3500 parts are next to impossible to buy and you will have to mortgage the house. Turbo is aftermarket and engines dont last
well. Cost a fortune to rebuild.

If you can find an Isuzu that would be the go, very reliable. We have five at work, and in three years we have had one breakdown which was a clutch. And that could have been hirers taking off in third gear.

No definitely not a wise buy. Personally I would not touch the Mazda that age. Had many weak points other than engine. Brakes are another big expensive headache.
The Isuzu which are around the same age are the one to look for. There were plenty of the Isuzu used as delivery trucks and reasonable supply second hand parts and fair range non genuine parts. The only way you would buy the Mazda T3500 is if it was like 25k cheaper than Isuzu same age. Then you need to decide if you want to put up with the Mazda headaches.
