Hi Shawry,

I have remanufactured 31x10.5 R15 mud terrain tyres on my GQ Maverick SWB.

I really just put them on as a temporary measure while I researched 'real' tyres to decide what to put on.

They cost me around $300 for four of them fitted and balanced.

I have found the following:

They are very noisey on the blacktop - much more so than my BFG mud terrains.

They seem to grip well in the wet.

Are wearing well (only about 4000ks so far - but no real signs of wear)

Off road, they perform very well - excellent grip, and they (touch wood) seem to be quite durable - with no problems so far after a few trips to VIC high country and a trip to Pyrenees VIC.

For what it's worth - the four that I have are all built on Goodyear Wrangler carcasses. I had to go 'out back' and select them - otherwise I'd have ended up with four tyres on random carcasses.

So far I'm very happy with them - and for about $300 for four tyres fitted and balanced, they represent excellent value for money.

When they wear out will I get them again - or go for a new tyre?

....still deciding.

Cheers,

Luke.

Hi Guys, Are these tyres any particular "Brand" I saw some called "Mongrels" I think at a 4wd place and wondered if they would be any good just for a spare weekend set.
Thanks for any advice,
Wayne.

Diamond: G'day there - 10:00am Sunday morning in Mansfield sounds great! Who is coming? Us, You, Toonfish - who else? Send me an email swbmav @ yahoo.com.au

Wayne: The ones I'm refering to aren't any particular brand - I got them from a tyre place in Plenty Road Kingsbury (VIC)- I think it is called the tyre factory form memory....

They're quite different from the Motorway Mongrels.....haven't used the Mongrels myself - but they are a much more aggressive tyre than mine - also a good deal more expensive.

The mongral tyres have been on my mates GQ got 8 months now , he thinks there the ducks guts for off , price is ok , check out the buck shot mudders also . They are not a re tread but not as agressive . In some tyre sizes you will sind that the simex extreem trekkers are cheaper than the mongrals . If you need a 16 " tyre , you will need to wait till next year, May. Craigs hut 2003

Motorway in Stawell, Victoria makes these recycled tyres. Check out their website www.motorway-tyres.com.au............from all accounts I understand they are pretty good.
