That's something you'll have to speak with your school about. Here in QLD I believe the answer would be no. You don't need to achieve anything in order to attempt years 11 and 12, but that may be different in other states/schools. Your school may have specific requirements for each year 11 subject which may cause you complications when get back, but if you can organise it now, it would probably be easier.
For example, as you no doubt know, there are different levels of maths subjects in year 11 and 12. At my school, in order to be eligible for the higher level maths subjects, students are "required" to complete an extension maths subject in year 10. I put "required" in inverted commas because we can't actually enforce any restrictions like that when it comes to the crunch, but the counsellors try to stick to these sorts of rules as much as possible.
If your system is similar to the QLD system, I'd say your biggest issue will be selecting year 11 subjects. So when you're at the school, as
well as the teachers, I would be talking to the person who organises subject selections for year 11. It may be a year level coordinator, a school counsellor, a deputy principal or someone else depending on your state and school structure. Your child may know who it is, otherwise you'll need to find out.
Hope that helps
